Car has problems gettin up to speed, vibrates?

I have 2003 grand prix gt. Every time I give it gas it does not want to go and overdrive sometimes does not go off when it should and when it does it jumps. Last night I was drivin it n the right front was makin a thumpin noise n it started to vibrate real bad. Was told it probably the fuel filter but I'm worried its somethin else. Any speculations?
